Listen up, Colorado! If you've ever wanted to leave your mark and literally become a piece of local history, this is your moment. We are constantly telling you about the best weekend events and food drops, but this one is completely different. This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to send a message to the future.

We are talking about the Great Colorado Time Capsule. To celebrate America’s 250th anniversary and Colorado’s 150th anniversary of statehood, they are building a massive, state-wide time capsule that will be permanently buried at The Ranch Events Complex in Loveland. And the best part? They are looking for your personal stories, photos, and keepsakes to put inside it.

The capsule is going to be sealed up tight and won't be opened again until the year 2076. This is your chance to show the future exactly what living in Colorado was like in 2026. Let's get into the game plan on how you can participate.

⚡ The Quick-Hit Blueprint

Don't wait until it's buried to realize you missed out. Here are the hard, fast facts:

  • 🗓️ When: In-person submissions happen during the Larimer County Fair (July 31 – August 4, 2026). Mail-in deadline is August 10!

  • 📍 Where: Submit in person at The Ranch Events Complex in Loveland, or mail it directly to the Loveland Visitor Center.

  • 💰 The Damage: 100% FREE to participate and submit your items!

  • ⏳ The Vault: The massive capsule will be sealed this fall and will not be opened until America 300 and Colorado 200 in 2076!

🚀 Why the Colorado Capsule is Top-Tier Colorado

1. A 50-Year Message to the Future

This isn't some small shoebox buried behind a school. The Great Colorado Time Capsule is a massive, repurposed industrial pipe that will be vacuum-sealed for long-term preservation. When they finally crack this thing open in 2076, it’s going to be a massive historical event. You have the chance to let your kids, grandkids, or just the future residents of Colorado see exactly what your life was like right now.

2. What Can You Actually Submit?

They are looking for authentic, everyday items that reflect life in Colorado today. We are talking personal letters to the future, family photos, a printed menu from your favorite local restaurant, artwork, or small keepsakes. The rule of thumb? Keep it small (maximum size is 12” x 12” x 12”), keep it dry (no food, liquids, or batteries), and make it meaningful.

3. Drop It Off at the Larimer County Fair

We already hyped up how insane the Larimer County Fair is going to be this year, but this is the ultimate cherry on top. The capsule is making its massive public debut right at the fair from July 31st to August 4th. You can literally walk up, hand over your submission in person, and then go grab a funnel cake and hit the rodeo. If you can't make it to the fair, you can actually submit digitally or mail your items in before August 10th.

🔥 The Rockstar King Verdict

The Great Colorado Time Capsule is exactly what makes our local community so elite. It’s an interactive, massive project that gives every single resident a voice in how this era of Colorado is remembered. Fifty years from now, when they open this vault, your story deserves to be in there. Stop scrolling, figure out what you want to submit, and get it done.
